Meeting Report – Expectations

A brilliant evening at the club at last meeting.

A different night in which the theme was perfectly suited to meet expectations of our Toastmasters members and visitors who contributed a lot for the success of meeting.

Those who were away missed some very humorous presentations that were interesting and entertaining.

The meeting was warm-heartedly opened by our chairman Steve who made us involved and engaged all during the meeting.

Our Toastmaster Anji well presented her role as Toastmaster and introduced our speakers with their specific objectives with honour and carried out the first session very successfully. She also presented awards and certificates to our gems who successfully completed their respective projects manuals during the business session.

We enjoyed Phil’s smile story with a humorous story of his past experience. We enjoyed his humorous story that made us laugh raucously out loud.

Hazel with her speech title “Thing Are Not What They Seem” entertained us with her love for birds and expressed her experience with burrowing owls when she saw them in zoo for the first time. I liked this very much. She delivered very well about the features, characteristics, life span, different varieties of owl around the globe. She represented different perspectives of life from the lifestyle and living habits of owls. Hazel delivered her No 6 speech from the CC manual.

Jeet delivered her first Icebreaker speech. She was confident, bold and clearly achieved her objectives. She informed us of her insightful story of coming to New Zealand, about her job and up bring  her children as a single mother. Her love for eating any time no matter whatever the situation is, her reason to join Toastmasters and her desire to be the member of club where she can develop her leadership and communication skills. Well done Jeet!

Debbie delivered her speech from an advanced manual about her political journey. She started with the journey from her childhood and later moved us emotionally with her life facing difficulties and hurdles although overcoming her physical disabilities. She moved the audience with her journey which made us to think whether her journey was political journey or inspirational journey. “Hats off to you Debbie”! You are true inspiration to all our club members.

Our Area Director Marlene presented the business session and congratulated our club to be on top and mentioned the new Pathways programme complete with changes made to communication and leadership projects.

This was a really fun and humorous session enjoyed by all of us. Thank you Rik and those who spoke on their interesting topics.

Finally the grammarian, Ah-Counter and Timekeeper reported back on their findings before General Evaluator Magda gave a thoughtful, encouraging, unflinching, constructive and comprehensive evaluation of everything that had not already been evaluated.
