Meeting Report

A chilly cold night and a fun meeting with laughing and sharing…

The meeting started on time, Chairman Chris introduced our Grammarian Heather to the stage, who set the word of the day “refresh”; Ah counter Katharina and Time Keeper Jacky both explained their roles and duties respectively. Two important roles let all speakers can realize the filler words they used in their speeches and also kept the meeting on time then everyone can go home and have a good night…

Pravinesh gave his smile story, letting every audience know that if someone wants to go to the heaven, he/she should die first(can’t deny that, haha). Really a good one to light up the whole meeting’s atmosphere.

Followed by smile, Gretel, meeting toastmaster, introduced our prepared speech speakers, Linda, Faqir, Ivo and Grant, who presented their fantastic speeches.  Linda shared her experience about a topic related to Nurture or Nature; Faqir told us his mentoring journey in Toastmaster; Ivo demonstrated his management skills and mindset; and Grant entertained us with his humour, laugh-triggering speech!!

After the short break and great food, the evaluators, Bles, Steve, Lakshman and Martin gave their evaluation speeches and offered positive feedbacks and some challenges to the speakers,  which is so important that speakers can improve and apply the feedback in next speech.

Then the most exciting part of the meeting, Table Topics! Table topic masters Clement randomly chose some members and guests to give a one-to-two minute impromptu speeches on the topic related to the theme, winter. After that, Ted and Anji evaluated the table topics and also gave recommendations to speakers.

Later, Heather, Katharina and Jacky got back to the stage again to give their reports. Hazel, the general evaluator tonight, commented on the whole meeting, both the good and need-to-improve parts.

Finally, Kevin invited the guests to share their experience with us tonight and closed the meeting. Winter is coming and the spring is not far away~
