We had people rabbiting on all night. After all the theme Jie set was “Rabbit” and we are a club that meets to… speak.
Roles were taken on at short notice by Yetzabel, Edward, Luke, Joseph and Randula.
When Jie introduced Edward for the Smile Story – he looked a bit shell-shocked. It seems our generic email address “members@” has been doing its selective sending again and Edward and Joseph both reported not receiving the agenda.
Jie said “too bad, up you get” and Edward boldly took to the stage and had us all smiling with his “give it a go” approach.
Edward was also the Table Topics Master – again without prewarning, and was able to come up with interesting topics that had us all engaged and entertained. Well done, Edward!
Our speakers for the night were Randula – who taught to us about roads. It’s funny how we drive on them every day yet give little thought to what goes on beneath. The cake analogy helped me…
Yetzabel had us in stitches and in awe with her talk on perseverance being an immigrant. What an amazing and inspiring story.
Richard also had us inspired with his story about networking and the opportunities in everyday life to make connections.
Joseph’s speech on his eye surgery had me leaning back into my chair as I imagined the needle coming towards my own eyes. Thankfully it all ended well with high praises for the health system.
I think the most motivating Table Topic response for the night goes to Lakshman. His positiveness and enthusiasm had us all leaning forward.
Jie and Santiago did a wonderful job as Chairman and Toastmaster for the evening.
Santiago leaves us now for a new life in Christchurch and we wish him well and thank him for his wonderful contribution to the club.
