une nuit à Paris – A night in Paris

We had another unpredictale night of laughter, wonder and inspiration as we got to hear some of our newest members give their first or second speeches – two fo these members having just joined and entered our club meeting for the very first time.

The evening started on time our most efficient Sargent At Arms – Les Johns, followed by a well organised by our first time ever Chairman, Abeer and Godfather of Toastmasters Kevin, who guided us through each speech and evaluation of the night.

Our Grammarian, Ivo D’silva tried to instil in us with more than just correct grammar  – and our laughter lab, Richard Watling gave us a humourous reason to why we should not look up.

I am sure that each of our speakers gave us a view into their lives and upbringings that came from the heart and connected with each listener. Two of our new but not old speakers touched on the theme of the night: Karolina and Vishante – “A night in Paris” experience and the theme of “Love”.

Each speaker were handed a flower for their presentations at the end of the meeting.

If was of course a full house with lots of new guests, despite many dear members not being there. We were also able to enjoy the colourful spread of food that Kevin Prohl never fails to delight us with.

A few members wore iconic French garb too match the theme of the night.

We also had the priviledge of publically inducting 4 new members into our Three Kings TM club family: Lilla, Daniel, Samaa and Walaa. We heard from Daniel, Samaa and Walaa for the first time and are yet to hear Lilla’s first ice-breaker, which we are looking forward to in the next few meetings.

We had a great “French speaking” Table topic master who showed us another hidden skill – fluent French!

All our evaluators gave exellent feedback that all listeners could learn from for their own improvement.

Kevin introduced the two new club trophies dedicated to two special members: Ted Loughlin – known for his long standing membership and for his humourous speeches and, in memory of the late Raymond Mok (R.I.P) sadly missed by the club, who inspired us with his dedication and commitment.

Please remember our social lunch and All-Blacks experience at Sky City this Saturday. may many of you join us.

We hope to have another well-informed and fun evening in another fortnight – I encourage you all not to miss out and be there to help create another memorable club meeting.

I encourage you all to bring a friend along 🙂
