Meeting Report – International Communities Day

At our last meeting, Three Kings Toastmasters Club members and guests gathered for an evening with excellent speeches and numerous self-development opportunities with the theme – ‘International Communities Day’.

The meeting started with a welcome speech from President Anji and Ted who introduced guests – Jim, Cher, Laxmi, Nagalaxmi and Mr. Singh. Meeting then moved with Kevin’s (Chairman) greeting. He was extremely happy about having 26 international members in the Three Kings Toastmasters Club and then introduced Faqir (Ah Counter), Liz (Timekeeper). Rik told us smile story. Clare announced word of the night as ‘Sceptical’.

Prepared speeches were introduced by toastmaster – Theresa.

The first speaker was Steve (easy going Kiwi), who gave an extraordinary advance manual 1 speech entitled “Sour Grapes”. Gretel gave an CC8 speech entitled “The Elephant in the room”. Gretel impressed the audience with her props – especially a single business card which she fitted to her head by using only scissor. Raymond gave CC10 speech entitled “Beyond Anger.” He correlated to different periods of his life. By sharing his story with us, he inspired everyone in the room to take small changes in their lives by forgiveness to experience a great reward of joy, love and peace.

Next was Clement with CC9 speech entitled “You can dance”. He discussed benefits of dancing, explained his journey of learning dance, various great tips and showed amazing dance moves with his wife Gretel. The final speech was given by Jeet. She gave her CC3 speech entitled “Who’s driving” and explained details about self-driving car with fantastic power point presentation.

After the speeches, our guest and members enjoyed amazing food arranged by Kevin.

After the break, we heard from the five evaluators – Anji, Chris, Jillian, Audrey and Sam.

We were then introduced to our Table Topic Master Janice, who structured her questions around the theme of Role Plays. We heard from Ted, Nagalaxmi, Audrey, Rik , Grant, Laxmi, Sam and Chris who all gave impromptu speeches for up to two minutes. Magda and Michael evaluated each speaker afterwards.

Anji, the President wrapped up the evening by announcing the awards and gave information on business session.

Raymond got the award for completing CC10 speech.

Finally, our General Evaluator Alex, evaluated our club and the meeting. Closing comments were given by Anji.
